This is a must on the calendar of every early childhood educator - a thought-provoking conference bringing together the best talent from around Australia and internationally to take the stage and share their common passion - working with children and giving them the best possible start in education and in life.

The 2017 Queensland Early Education & Care Conference is the largest conference of its type attracting more than 700 early childhood professionals. Educators, sector representatives, resource and education partners will come together to share the most up-to-date knowledge, thinking and practice.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Sparking Curiosity, Celebrating Children and Exploring Leadership’ and the keynote speakers and workshops will be delivered based on the following three streams:

Sparking Curiosity: Shining a light on STEM practices. STEM touches every aspect of our lives, from our smartphones to the technologies that enable us to explore the world around us and outer space. It also drives innovation in our fast-changing global landscape. To succeed in this environment, our children need a strong foundation in STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Celebrating Children: We’ll be celebrating and exploring the diversity and complexity of supporting children in contemporary Australia and looking at the implications for early education and care pedagogy, quality and practice. With a particular focus on: children’s self-regulation, working with families, relationships, assessments, language and literacy, and infants and toddlers.

Exploring Leadership: How can we create positive and meaningful change in everyday practice and develop effective educational policy and processes? We’ll be focusing on: leadership and service management, educational leadership vs leadership, coaching and mentoring, having difficult discussions with adults, customer experience, reconciliation action plans.
